How we helped a community organisation for women from the Global Majority in Suffolk find a home online that finally matched what they’d built in person
Some projects aren’t really about a website at all. They’re about making sure the people doing quiet, vital work in a community never have to fight their own technology to keep doing it. Suffolk Sister Solace CIC is exactly that kind of project.
The Problem: A Community With No Home Online
Suffolk Sister Solace is a community for women from the Global Majority living in Suffolk, a space to connect, feel seen, and build confidence, with open doors for anyone who shares those values. They were already doing the real work, running events, building genuine connection, creating a space where women felt they truly belonged.
What they didn’t have was a website. Instagram carried all of their event advertising and RSVPs, and it did that job well, but there was nowhere for someone discovering them for the first time to properly understand who they were, why they existed, and how to get involved before ever showing up in person.
The Solution: Custom Hosting and a Site Built to Capture the Heart of It
We built a custom website and hosting for Suffolk Sister Solace, offered at a heavily reduced rate, simply because the work mattered and deserved a proper home online.
Instagram stayed exactly where it belonged, as the space for events and RSVPs, the place their community already knew and used. The new website became something different: a place to tell the fuller story, who they are, why they exist, and how someone can get involved, for anyone who found them outside of social media, or wanted somewhere calmer and more permanent to point people towards.
From the very first conversation, the brief was clear. This wasn’t about building something generic and dropping their name on it. It was about capturing sisterhood, belonging, and a whole lot of heart, and making sure that came through in every part of the site, not just the words on the page.
The Result: A Website That Finally Felt Like Them
The founder described the finished site as capturing “exactly what Suffolk Sister Solace is all about” right from the start, and publicly thanked the team on Instagram for what she called their generosity, knowledge and creativity throughout the process.
The launch was celebrated properly, with a heartfelt post to their community, and Suffolk Sister Solace has since gone on to leave a five star Google review, describing the process as knowledgeable, kind and creative throughout, with communication that never wavered and a website delivered quickly without ever losing sight of what mattered most: getting it right.
Why This Project Mattered
At William James Creative Digital, this is exactly the kind of project we started the business to be part of. No one should be fighting with their technology while they’re busy building a community, especially not the people doing the quiet, vital work of making others feel like they belong.
Working alongside a team whose values aligned so completely with our own, sisterhood, belonging, and genuine heart, was a real privilege. That was the brief, and that’s what we built.
